Communication is indeed important in every human being. The way people live and think is profoundly affected by means of communication.

=Television etc.,

 

However, by the fact that it is a gifts from God It should be used for common good, men must be oriented about these instruments for communications. The important thing is that Christ should be the center of everything. Hence, Means of communication gives us SOMETHING; some people may say that they have EVERYTHING on instruments for communication. In this modern world people nowadays used means of communication by putting man into trap. Trap that triggers them to stop thinking. This trap may cause not harmonious relationship between man and the world. This trap makes man not to put effort of choosing and thinking. The example of this is false beliefs.

However, reading the text (communion et progressio) I found it (eureka) I found the right notion of how to use or how they should use these means of communication (media). These instruments of communication really should have a proper balance for us to have a growing people and society united in Christ.

Human may progress in the contribution of social communication if it is balance, with love and with certain essential requirements (sincerity, honesty, and truthfulness).

People nowadays should read this text (communion et Progressio ) so that they may fully understand what they should give to the people. In addition, this text explained all the right things using communication.

The values, good will etc., on handling this gifts of God is so important because communicating is not just in a year but we are communicating everyday…every seconds..

People nowadays are not so sensitive using this media. Sometimes they are communicating for the sake of connecting to others.

Social communication should really tend to multiply contacts within society and to deepen social consciousness and it may serve men to the hand of God and to his fellowmen.

  People nowadays are bombarded with high technologies such as; television, cell phone, mp4, and other mp’s. In addition, most of the students nowadays have these instruments/gadgets which may bring good and bad effect in the society. Bad effect because most of the people today are not oriented of proper using of instruments. However, mass media really influenced people and the society. I realized that, these instruments may be properly used if we will not go beyond our intention. Mass media were we can gather information, events, entertainments etc. However, the good thing is that mass media and social communication in spreading the good news is available to all people around the world because of these technologies were they can gather information. This God given technologies must be properly used to develop an upright conscience and to use these instruments with respect. Hence, people must be oriented about these instruments for them to use properly. Mass media is a big issue nowadays; people are influenced by the blooming instruments. Modernization in the society is a big adjustment and a big disturbance to the people. What is important here is that people should be conscious of what is reality nowadays.       

            People may enter in a religious vocation when they appreciate, or enlightened by these instruments.     

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“The guide to the training of future priests concerning the instruments of social communication”

 

 

 

 After reading the guide to the training of future priests concerning the instruments of social communication, it is indeed helpful for Christians (especially for seminarians) to use the instruments of social communication as a providential means for the accomplishment of it’s mission to preach the Word of Salvation to all nations. In addition, these instruments will not be a result of communion if we will use it beyond our good intention. However, it enlightened me to use these instruments with respect and with good intention because this instruments has a controlling effect to the people’s mind. Hence, “Communication should result in communion” we must also adjust to other people in a manner of communication and to their pattern of thought.

            As a seminarian I must know this guide to the training of future priests concerning the instruments of social communication. First and foremost, to have the idea, discipline with this instrument, and discipline to communicate with people. I must practice and learn to communicate with much careful using these instruments. In the sense that, using this instrument you are facing the whole world” the world of technology.” Seminarians should be orient about these things so as not to discourage and change other people’s thought.

            People nowadays, are not careful about these instruments maybe because of lack of idea or they don’t know that they are connected to all nations. This “guide” is to be read and reflect upon for us not to be so blameless regarding these instruments. I really appreciate the work of the Church regarding these instruments for it caters a wonderful outlook to the people.    

             

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Church and the Internet

 

               

“Human experience itself is an experience of media.” This idea appeals the reality of strong cause of media. It is in reality that media in our time is scattered. Man’s experiences are on the level of experiencing media as a communication, getting information etc., positive or negative. However, online internet somehow helpful for spreading the good news but it’s not enough in the sense that it must be practice by people and it must be stable that there is always the concept of God and God should be the center. Yes, it brings good news on the level of reading it and comprehending it. However, does it practiced by the people?  Media is first and foremost must be present in a family. We know and it is common to the people that in a family begin the formation of man. However, in that sense children and parents must be aware of the extraordinary cause of media. The parents must teach the children the importance of media the effect of media. And there must be a point of reference for the parents. Man is always desire to know what is innovative inside the society and they directly go through to it not knowing the effect of it. And in media there is always new and people nowadays are so conscious of it. The danger is there already existing and most of the students are not aware of it. Their parents must be their guide when it comes to media.

Day by day media users are increasing and we don’t know who are using it properly. The parents must be attentive because it is becoming a hindrance in a family. In addition, parents go to work and the children are left the tendency they will cling unto media instruments etc., and they are openly free to choose good or bad. Since they are children they will surely cling unto the reality that they are enjoying. The tendency is they waste their time doing non-sense thing. Nothing is known!                

 

 

The Rapid development of Technology

 

 

For Christian, Jesus Christ is the Perfect Communicator. He is the Communicator of the Word of the Father announcing it to the people. And the people who listen share it to others. Like media, what people learn about new things or idea of things, they share it to others. But is it all for the good of the community? Do people use it in a proper way? How do people communicate nowadays? People usually spend there time in front of computer and other instrument (technology). Some people using it everyday but there is danger. We must be aware of the pros and cons of technologies. The Church found a precious aid for spreading the good information of PowerPoint for the people to be more aware of how to use it properly. However, it is not only for a particular technology but it caters all of the instruments (technology). Using it properly is first of all, no one must be disturb or without disturbance. If it is possible people must not be trigger on the celebration of the Eucharist. The celebration must be the center of attention. This is only some of the teachings of the Church, which people should read and understand and be aware of, when it comes to technology. Technology nowadays disturbed most of the young generations, and they must be aware of this reality. Hence, someone must tech them and encourage them how to use technologies properly. We cannot say that technology is only a material form that we use to communicate etc., in the sense that it affects not only our needs but the self, discipline, “to have.”

Ethics in Advertising

Media advertising is a form of communication throughout the world.  Many advertisements are designed to generate increased consumption of those products and services through the creation and reinforcement of brand image and brand loyalty. For these purposes, advertisements sometimes embed their influential message with factual information. Every major medium is used to deliver these messages, including television, radio, cinema, magazines, newspapers, video games, the Internet and billboards.

Man’s action, thinking, reasoning are connected to his character. And if man’s character is affected by advertising using media, man may not insert effort on thinking, reasoning, choosing. Why? Because man is contented with what he has and contented with skin deep idea/information from media. The work of advertising is to increase sale, trigger people, and encourage people by their product or etc., by their talent.

Advertising using media is a waste of time, just introducing something that is not really essential. Yes, they help a person who has a talent or knows how to “perform,” in short; advertising used people with their money, cheat people, and they want people to believe what they are saying. The world of advertising is present nowadays; in a month or weeks they present another new product and deceive people. Advertising influenced people especially those who are not aware of these media.  The message here is to enlighten those people who are not aware of these advertisements.   

100 years of Cinema

 

 

 

 

 

Cinema is a silence but has a disastrous effect in oneself and society. Why? Because cinema is used into political, entertainment, and others dimension which is for the people (young and the old) to gather idea. However, this idea is somehow helpful. Hence, there is also devastating / destructive effect creating by cinema/television. Effect may see as; people especially children and the youth may be late in maturity because of over-watching such a particular non sense movie, a mother may not put effort in cooking for she situate first her attention to television (in a particular “teleserye”), a television as a baby sitter, television as a friend, reality is what is in the television. The effects are too big especially for the children. For instance, a child start to see a movie of “Mr. Bean”( Mr. Bean, a man that is hardheaded/ stupid. He is not talking. He had only one friend that is his teddy bear).  What do you think? What will happen to a child? Another thing is that, what will happen if a mother cooks late for supper because of television? What will happen is that; first, her child may be hungry. The worst thing is that, mother and her children disregard to eat because of watching television. This is one of the possibilities that may happen in reality.

 Television/ cinema may present different kind of effects and hindrances to the family and in the society. However, people especially parents should insert serious efforts to educate the children and the youth with regard understanding mass media. To be conscious of time, self, and reality is the best way to overcome this television. The balance is important in every activity in the family and in the society. Another thing is that, discipline. This article “100 years of cinema” creates awareness in parents, to encourage them to supervise their children’s approach to television.

I experienced this kind of reality; to ignore the food for lunch because of not that important movie, it happened during our vacation. Anyway, part of that experienced is that I am not conscious of the “Self” I am conscious on the “Other thing” it happened that it seems like I am enjoying watching. I found out that I am not in control of the “Self.” Cinema may shape man’s emotions, thoughts, and knowledge if man knows how to control and to balance the “Self.”             

Aetatis Novae; For soul..

 

 

 

 

Aetatis Novae is a pastoral writing that talks about media in all its aspects including positive and negative factors. However, it also tackle about How the church encourage people to use media in connection not only …to others, to self, to the world, but the most important is in connection with the pastoral works and activities, to spread the good news and works of Jesus. However, what is the status of the people today? Do they respond to the teaching of the church in using God’s gifts? In addition,  In what way? The churches have this writings that embark upon the ways and right/proper way of using and communicating with people using media.

However, people of today are not that conscious in using media/instruments. The book Aetatis nova is intended to deepen their knowledge about mass media, for it is a big issue inside the society.

Man by nature commit mistakes and in every mistake there is a cause. If this media may be the cause of the mistakes of every people, I don’t know what will happen to this world. Maybe, the outcome would be a broken society or confusion in a society. Confusion, the example of this would be news; people will not know to whom they should believe. Mass media has influenced people nowadays; they cannot go out their houses without these gadgets/instruments.

AETATIS NOVAE is teaching us to be conscious enough in acting and doing things regarding this mass media. In spite of the difficulties, hindrances, and problems, the churches continue to stands and do something for God and for us for the good of the society. Good in the sense that everyone is responsible for a better society and disciplined society regarding mass media.                     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pornography and violence

 

 

 

 

Pornography and violence published by “The pontifical council for Social Communications” is addressed in a systematic way, giving definition, reasons and also possibilities for reaction in the communications perspective. However, it includes also the people in the society especially professional communicators. The book deals about pornography and violence in all the communications means including theater, recording, video cassettes, advertising and telecommunications (cf.no.5) but also includes the mass media like; books, and magazines, film, radio etc., the paper also discussed about the effect, the cause, response, and finally the challenges.

As a Filipino seminarian, I must be aware of this mass media especially when it comes to pornography. Reading pornography and violence, I was triggered by this sentence “the best way to combat pornography is to legalize it.” For me it is interesting in the sense that people likes pornographic images etc,. However, people may do such an act not according to their nature and beyond their intentions because of this pornography and violence. To legalize it is to let people sin and turn into terrible act. Imagine a person who has the habit of sex, pornographic images etc,. It will affect other people and of course the self; his growth, maturity, relationships, communication, attitude, character etc,. This must be clear especially for Filipinos. I observed that many Filipinos nowadays are fond of this “porn”

     However, what is most terrible is that mass media is connected with the business of the people. It became the business of a Catholic Filipino people” the essence of being a catholic and a good citizen is not on the level of a good citizen.
